About Us

We're on a mission:

  • to increase enterprise, employment and training
  • to create a more connected and safer community
  • to promote health and social wellbeing
  • to support children and young people
  • and to maximise opportunities for recreation and environmental resilience.

West Howe Community Enterprises was established by local residents in November 2009 to improve communications about the area and make this a better place to live. We have since become a registered Company and a registered Charity.

Our group improves communication in the area by producing the 'West Howe Now' newsletter and running this website. We also run the 'Inspiring Change Shop' in Cunningham Crescent which provides low cost items, a place for people to volunteer and learn new skills or simply just a place to meet new friends. We like to call it 'the smallest community centre in the world'

We also coordinate a host of activities for the community including Health Helpers, Job Club, Howe Tasty Cafe, Bingo, coffee mornings, give and take days and much more.

FINAL LOGO(HIGH RES)

This is the logo that local residents have helped design for West Howe community Enterprises.

The image is based around a design by schoolchildren Holly and Jaymie at Heathlands School and has been crafted by talented local graphic designer Natalie Kibble, a volunteer on the West Howe communications project.

Natalie said: “We wanted to design something bright and eye catching that symbolises the community spirit here. Many residents and schoolchildren designed logos and a team of volunteers for West Howe Community Enterprises chose the elements they liked the best.

The Logo, used on the community website, is the branding for West Howe Community Enterprises.”
