• Something for the weekend 17/5/2013

Hello everyone here is Friday's round up 'Something for the weekend' with latest news and events for the coming week. We have not had much in the way of hearing about very local events this week but below are a few which are a bus or short car ride away. Lots going on as usual and West Howe has been busy this week. The West Howe Regeneration Partnership met on Thursday and it looks like a final logo has been chosen with the help of the community and pupils from Heathlands school. The West Howe vision film is coming along nicely and the group will be filming at the Fun Day on June 2nd, please do come along and air your views on how you would like to see West Howe.

Other news sent in this week is from the Butterfly Foundation and Dorset healthwatch, you can read these below.

Hope you all have a great week and see you the same time next Friday

    Health Watch Dorset

Healthwatch is the new independent consumer champion for health and social care, created to gather and represent the views of the public. We are presently recruiting volunteers in order to create a network of

Healthwatch Champions right across Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth.

Champions will have two main roles:

    1. To promote Healthwatch in their local communities, so that people know what it is, what it can do and how they can get in touch with it. Getting across the message – “Your Voice Counts: You Can Make A Difference.”

    2. To be the eyes and ears of Healthwatch at the heart of local communities, feeding back to us what people's experiences (good and bad) of services are and encouraging people to tell us their stories.

Anyone can offer to be a Healthwatch Champion. All you have to do is be ready to promote Healthwatch in your local community and encourage people to share with us their experiences - good or bad - of health and care services with suggestions as to how things could be improved. Help get the message across that “Your Voice Counts and You Can Make A Difference”, because Healthwatch can tell the people who commission and provide services what you've told us and then work to bring about change.

You can spend as much or as little time as you wish undertaking your volunteering activities, at times to suit you. You will receive training appropriate to your level of involvement and the support of the dedicated Volunteer Officer.

If you would like any more information or to register as a volunteer, please contact your
