• Looking back and forward

Looking back over the last year alot has been going on.

The Inspiring change shop has grown and has now taken on a paid manager until March. We have registered on ebay and in the new year will be selling items on our account as well as in the shop. Four of our staff have attended and passed a course in PAT testing which now means we can test and sell electrical items. Hopefully all this will help us to bring more income in to make sure the shop stays here in the future. We have lots of volunteers that have worked very hard this year to make sure the shop is open for the community, keeping prices low for everyone so that it is affordable to either treat yourself to some new clothes or get that winter coat so deperately needed. We are also still excepting rag, and this goes off for recycling. So you are not only helping us greatly by bringing it here, you are saving the landfill and planet at the same time, GO YOU!

The shop also acts as a base for our volunteers to learn new skills and gain experience to help get back into the work. We have had 3 volunteers this year return to paid employment, others have gone on with increased confidence to volunteer in other areas. I have been talking to the volunteers this morning about what they have enjoyed this year and they all agreed that meeting new friends and having fun while volunteering has been really special, "I would just be at home twiddling my thumbs if I didn't come here" said one. Another volunteer agreed saying that " It's like a family". The word crazy was mentioned in there, but honestly we are not that bad.

If you would like to volunteer in the New Year please get in touch, there are lots of ways you can get involved and can do as little or as much as you like.

We have just had our Christmas volunteer meal last week, even father Christmas came along to deliver presents to us. So to round off we would just like to say Merry Christmas to all our customers and helpers.
